The Kenya Institute of Bankers - Nairobi Local Centre usually organize the Annual Essay Competition in the month of September – October. It involves 4 to 5 current subjects. The competitor’s are allowed to select ONE title and writes the Essay. Entries(Essay) are then forwarded to the Registrar of the Essay Competition in an envelope marked "Essay Competition" on the bottom-left hand corner and addressed to:-The Registrar – Essay Competition

Each entry must be accompanied by a covering letter giving the following details: -(i) Competitor’s full name
(ii) Bank/Financial Institution
(iii) Branch Address
(iv) Contact Details – Telephone/Email
The Competitor’s Name MUST NOT Appear on the pages of the Essay Itself.
The Essay should be between 1500 – 2000 words in length, and should be typewritten on one side of the paper only. It must be entirely the original work of the competitor. The Registrar will then allocate an entry number to each essay received, and this number will be advised to the members of the essay Sub-Committee. When all essays have been received, competitor’s names will be sealed in an envelope by the Registrar. Only after all essays have been marked and the winners selected, will this envelope be opened to identify the winners.
The prizes are awarded by the Patron of the Kenya Institute of Bankers at the Annual Dinner in November. The Kenya Institute of Bankers reserves the right to publish, circulate or distribute any essay if considered to be in the interest of the Institute or its members.
