I am currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Institute of Bankers, having joined the organization on 1st of February 2021. I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Geography from the University of Nairobi. I am a holder of a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa as well. I equally hold an Advanced Certificate in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing [UK], and a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management Kenya. I am also the Country Coordinator of the International Facilitators Kenya Chapter.

Experience & Achievements

I have over 10 years’ senior management experience in leadership skills development, having achieved this while working with multicultural regional and international organizations. I also have a strong bias for developing and implementing strategies for skills development with a keen eye on finance, budgeting and risk management.

I have proven expertise, particularly in the area of youth empowerment through entry level onboarding training or dedicated post-secondary school youth training programmes like the “Wings to Fly” with Equity Group Foundation, during which I was credited with implementing safeguarding policies. I am also credited with designing and rolling out the first Standard Chartered Bank’s Consumer Bank Academy in the African region in East Africa and implementing the curricula for staff.

I also spearheaded the Funding and successful implementation of curriculum development and roll out of management and executive development courses for the financial sector in East Africa, whilst partnering with the Strathmore Business School. I also carry effective cross cultural and international team working experience dealing with multiple stakeholders (partners, consultants, senior executives and others) virtually and in person, to persuade and influence staff development issues. I have effective facilitation skills grounded on best practice adult learning and brain friendly principles with relevant exposure in skills certifications/accreditation and coaching/mentoring.

Prior to joining the Kenya Institute of Bankers, I worked for four years at Financial Sector Deepening Africa as Director, Professional Education. Financial Sector Deepening Africa [FSD Africa] is a Department for International Development [DFID UK] funded development agency working towards poverty alleviation in Africa through the financial sector development.

Before my successful stint at FSD Africa, I was the General Manager, Learning and Leadership Development at the Equity Bank Ltd, a position I successfully held for two years.

Earlier in my career, I worked for various organizations including Standard Chartered Bank as a Senior Facilitator, Africa Leadership and Management Development, and earlier on as the head of Learning and Talent Development in the entire East Africa region

Before joining Standard Chartered Bank, I worked as the Regional Training Manager at Steadman Trains Limited, during which he initiated new and creative ways of training facilitation, which resulted in a more enhanced trainee-focused approach. I have attended numerous training Courses including Lumina Team Effectiveness [Lantern Trainers], Gallup’s Accelerated Strengths Coaching Course [Emergence Growth], Leading at the Frontiers [Digital Frontiers Institute], e-Facilitation Workshop [Dynamind eLearning] among others.
