In order to register in any of the various KIB Membership types, fill the Membership Registration form with your details, giving a brief message or information regarding your registration at the “message” box.

KIB memberships are normally renewed annually, or rather the membership is based on an annual subscription. For a member to continue enjoying member benefits, he / she needs to be up to date with subscription payments.

Yes, it is possible to upgrade to a higher membership level. Higher membership type are packed more prestigious benefits and features that members will enjoy.

A “Fellow” is an internationally recognized title in the Global Financial Services Industry or the Financial World.
INVITATION TO BE ELECTEDA “FELLOW” OF THE KENYA INSTITUTE OF BANKERS, FKIB.
The Fellowship title is a mark of distinction and Senior Professional status in the banking industry. A “Fellow” is an internationally recognized title in the Global Financial Services Industry or the Financial World.
Have you ever wondered what it takes to become a Fellow of the Institute? Would you like to apply for election to one of the most prestigious and respected levels of membership in the banking profession?
To encourage more financial services professionals to become Fellows of the Institute the Council has formulated guidelines setting out the criteria for election of Fellows. The requirements have been established to fully reflect the diversity of the financial services sector in which members operate to encourage members in all areas of the industry to apply.

Should you wish to apply, please note the following:
Fellows are elected by the Institute’s Council from Associates of the Institute (and other financial services professionals with comparable qualifications) who are of managerial status or who have held a managerial appointment. To encourage more financial services professionals to become Fellows of the Institute the Council has formulated guidelines setting out the criteria for election of Fellows. An applicant to be considered for election as a Fellow must meet the following criteria:
  • 1. Be a member of the Institute and be not less than thirty-five years of age;
  • 2. Satisfy the Council that He/She is in all respects a suitable person for election as a Fellow;
  • 3. Be an Associate of the Kenya Institute of Bankers or holder of either:
    • a. A professional qualification comparable with the Institute’s qualification or
    • b. Be able to demonstrate a commitment to financial services education, training or other Institute related goals.
  • 4. Be of managerial status and have worked in a bank/Financial Institution for not less than Ten years.
  • 5. Be a continuing member of the Institute and able to regularly pay the subscriptions of the Institute as may be determined from time to time by the Council.
  • 6. Be recommended for election as a Fellow by his/her employer and/or two current Fellows.
  • 7. Submit an application form obtained from the Institute and pay the prescribed application fee.

Honorary Fellows

The Council may elect as Honorary Fellows, men of distinction in the field of banking, finance, economics, management, etc. An applicant to be considered for election as an honorary fellow must meet the following criteria:

  • 1. Apply to the Institute in writing on a prescribed form or be invited by the Council at its discretion;
  • 2. Satisfy the Council that He/She is in all respects a suitable person for election as an honorary Fellow;
  • 3. Demonstrate his/her contribution to the development of financial services education, training or education in general, or distinguished service in another profession of relevance to the banking industry such as Law, Accounting, Economics, Manacscement. Insurance and other kindred subiects:
  • 4. Be not less than thirty-five years of age.
The requirements have been established to fully reflect the diversity of the financial services sector in which members operate to encourage members in all areas of the industry to apply.

If you would like to be considered for election to Fellowship please extract a copy of the attached application form which after completion submit to the Secretary of the Institute with the following information, accompanied by payment (cheque) of Kshs.15,200.00

  • Your full name and Institute membership number
  • The relevant particulars confirming that you meet all the requirements mentioned.
  • A copy of your current CV (not necessary for Chief Executives).

Please note that two current Fellows must sponsor your application or where absent a written recommendation from your employer (Chief Executives do not necessarily require a recommendation).
The Council considers all applications and if successful you will receive formal notification of election. In addition a Fellow’s Certificate and a letter of congratulation from the Institute’s Chairman will be forwarded shortly after election. Please note that in all cases the decision of the Institute’s Council is final.
